Pure Of Heart is a short story that is just the right length to keep an impatient youngster’s interest. It is not to short that it’s over in a minute but not too long as to become boring and leaving a kid asking, “Why did I start reading this instead of playing the Wii?” Aimed at the younger reader, ready to move on to something deeper than the magic tree house books, it is a prime example of putting someone else’s needs first. It’s an adventure book, it’s a fantastical book, and it’s even a romance book suitable for that in between age.
Liam searches for the “horrible beast” that killed his brother, while Miread searches for a “mystical creature” capable of saving her ill sister. What both of these young people learn along the way is that both the beast and the creature are one and the same.
